Badminton legend Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan are both inducted into the 2023 World Badminton Federation Hall of Fame. The two will officially "enter" at a ceremony held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center on the 26th of this month.
Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan are arguably the most dominant men's singles players of their generation. From participating in international competitions in the early 2000s, the two continued to exert a huge influence in the field of badminton until they retired in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
The two have participated in five Olympic Games and ten BWF World Championship finals, fully demonstrating their dominance on the badminton court.
Both Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan set a string of records during their long careers. Lee Chong Wei has 47 BWF Superseries/World Tour titles and has been world No. 1 for 349 consecutive weeks.
Lin Dan, on the other hand, is unrivaled in major events, with two Olympic champions and five world championship titles.
In addition to their success on the field, the two legendary players also made significant contributions to the development of the sport. BWF president Paul-Eric Hoyer said Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan were badminton's most outstanding ambassadors in the past 20 years. Their stellar play captivated a whole generation of fans, and they should all be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
