On Monday, news broke that a Premier League footballer had been arrested on suspicion of rape. The footballer was arrested in a "dramatic arrest" and interrogated for 15 hours.
Details are slowly emerging about an alleged rape of a Premier League player. He was arrested in north London on Monday.
Scotland Yard reports that a woman in her 20s reported the rape to police on July 4. The alleged rape reportedly occurred in June 2022.
The Sun published details of the arrest, which occurred in "a dramatic police raid at 3am" and "six police cars arrived at the player's million-pound mansion while he was asleep".
The same source also said the young woman returned to the UK after the assault and went to the police station on Sunday night, using the photos as evidence to call the police. The player was taken into custody a few hours later.
The player's name cannot be released for legal reasons, but sources say he was detained by police and interrogated for more than 15 hours.
"These allegations are the most serious. The club's owners are appalled. The player was supposed to be on the pre-season tour and now he can't. The player's teammates are stunned," a source at the club told The Post. The Sun: "It's a blow to the club, but the police must do their job."
The 20-something would have had a good chance at the World Cup in Qatar in November.
